War Debts Cancellation Mr. Sirovich introduced iA the TT.S. House of Representatives a resolution for the cancellation of the British and French war debts and for the IJnited States to demand full payment from the dictatorship States in order to preserve the democracy of the world. Mother and Children Killed At Baldwin (Long Island) a mother and four children were burned to death. The husband and two others were gravely injured in the fire, which destroyed the bungalow. A coal stove, which had been converted to burn paraffin oil, exploded, trapping the family. Boy's Useless Vigil A message from Oxford, New Jersey, states that a boy aged 14 years who had been without sleep for 336 ho\xrs to prevent suicide by his father who had been unemployed since he was crippled in an accident, took a nap and was awakened by a shot. He saw his father fire a second, fatally wounding him in the head. The first shot enterea his chest. The boy, weeping, cycled a mile to tell his aunt. Freighter Sinks The U.S. Coastguard cutter Chelan rescued 17 men from the sinking Norwegian freighter Bjerkli, 760 miles east of New York after six vessels had battled in the storm for 18 hours due to inaccurate positions given by distress signals by an amateur operator. Mr Jordan and the League Mr. W. J. Jordan, N.Z. High Commissioner, addres'sing the Shoreham branch of the League of Nations Union, said: "If we could get the opinions of the peoples of all nations instead of those of the Governments, we would get wholehearted denunciation of wax\ "The League," he added, "is not interested so nxueh in flags or Governments as tho welfare of the peoples and with their desire for progress and hatred Of war."
