REGENT THEATRE
"PICCADILLY JIMA* Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer has brought "Piecadilly Jim'» into being in tbe person of Bobert Montgomery, who gives one of the most delighti'ul periormances of his career in this pictnre at ■the Regent Theatre on Saturday. It is significant that Bobert Z. Leonard, the director of "The Great Ziegfeld," also directed this pieture. His deft touch Is unmistakable. A stellar supporting cost includes Frank Morgan, also of "The Great Ziegfeld" cast, Madge Evans, Erio Blore, Billie Burke, the widow of the famous producer in her first pieture under her new M-G-M contract, Bobert Benchley and others. The pieture' s ecenes present London, New York and a trans-Atlantic luxury liner with a realism that is possible only to the teehnique of the screen. The Wodehouse etory was produced intact, with all of its droll situations and its smart comedy. The story concertts a brilliant oaricaturist who falls in love with a girl about whose family hfc knows nothing whatever. When sho disappears he launches ^ quest for "her, neglects his Work and loses his job. His father, a former actor, played by Frank Morgdn, also is in love with a woinan of a Iofty clan. The boy proceeds to caricatute a family he has met and the cartoons take the world in a storm of laughter. His fortune is made. The catastrophe comes when he discovers that he has lampooned the family of the girl he loves. The comedy and romance which develops from this point, provide one of the most notable laugh-plays ever to come from Hollvwood
