EVENING WEDDING IN HASTINGS ON WEDNESDAY

'McBride — Guilliardl ! j Beautiful autumn flowers and ferue were arranged in the Baptist Church, Hastings, by the friends of the bride for the wedding at 6.30 last evening of Nesta Gwendoline, only daughter of Mr and Mrs H. Guilliard, Hollywood Terrace, Waipukurau, and Francis Roy, only son of Mr and Mrs. W. McBride, French atreet, Hastings. The Rev, O. B. Boggis officiated at the ceremony and Miss McCutcheon, of Hastings, presided at the organ, The bride looked very charming as she entered the church with her fatber. Her gown was. of heavy magjaolia satin, cut on classical lines, the fitting skirt. sweeping into a long train. The bodic© was fashioned with a high neckline and very full inset bishop sleeves with sinall crystal buttons from neok to waist at the back, the belt being finished with a diamante clasp. The bride's old lace veil, which was lent by a friend, was arranged with a double band of tiny orange blossom buds and ieaves and ehe carried an arm-shower composed of cream and palest apricot ehaded flowers. The bride was attended by Miss Jean' Brown, of Napier, as chief bridesmaid, and Miss Marion Sathrup, of Dannevirke, a small cousin. Miss Brown's frock was of self-embossed palest green ninon fashioned with a trained skirt and full shirred sleeves with a spray of silver flowers on the corsage and a silver girdle. She wore a halo of silver flowers and leaves, silver shoes and carried. a shower bouquet of apricot flowers and fern. The sfnall bridesmaid's frock was of pale buttercup self-emboseed ninon, the corsage finished with silver flowers, and a black velvet sash tied in a bow at the back. She wore a silver headband, silver shoes and carried a shower bouquet of apricot flowers. The duties of best man were carried out by Mr D- Graham, Hastings. On the bridal party leaving the church they were escorted by a guard of honour formed by members of the Hastings military uuit. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Hawke's Bay Farmers5 tearooms, where the guests were received by the bride's parents, assisted by the parents of the bridegroom.

Mrs H. Guilliard wore a gown of burgundy ring velvet, fashioned with a long slimly-fitting skirt. The sleeves were softly shirred, and. the shirred corsage wa« finished with a posy of rich velvet rosebuds. Her black lace straw hat was trimmed with burgundy velvet flowers and she carried a bouquet of red and cream flowers. Mrs W. McBride wore a navy and lemon ensemble with a black hat and carried a bouquet in toning flowers. The reception was a very jolly one and all the usual toasts were honoured. The square three-tiered wedding cake, whieh had been made by the bride's mother, was most beautifully iced, the bride cutting it with a sword. When the bride and bridegroom left for their honeymoon, a tour of the North Island, the bride iravelled in a smart ensemble of new runt crepe, trimmed with brown and a becoming brown velvet toque, She wore brown suede shoes and carried a, musquasb fur coat.
