JOLLY PARTIES FOR POPULAR EASTER BRIDE
Miss Joan Smith whose marriage to Mr L. Heaton takes place on Easter Monday has been a much feted bride-to-be, quite a number of very jolly parties hoving been given in her honour. One of her bridesmaids, Miss Thora Young, -with her sister, Miss M. Youiig, and her mother, • Mrs F. W. Young, were hos.tesses at a gift evening in tlie Fremior Hall, about 60 guests beaug present. Gordon Redwqrd's orchestra played the music for the dancing and Beveral novelty dances were enjoyed. The Ivltmte calro waltz was won by Miss lt. Loomos and partner and the second novelty dance by Miss J. Graham and partner. The guest of honour wor© a gown of blue tatt'eta, the slsirt shirred at the knees and at the shoulders to form full puffed sleeves. She wor© cherry shoes and shoulder spray. Alrs F. W. Young wore a gown of black floral silk. Miss Thora Young wor© blue velvet with full. sleeves and a silver girdle and her sister wore black moir© taffeta with silver lame collar and buttons at the back. After a delicioUs supper the guest of honour opened her gifts and Mr L. Heaton thanked the guests on her behalf. Miss Joyce Jenkins, who is also to be a bridesmaid, was the hostess at a pantry evening for Miss Joan Smith, the guests being entertained at her horae in Avenue road. Community singing caused much amusement among the guests and jolly competitions were won by Miss J. Graham and Miss E. Shakespeare The hostess wor© a green tailored iinen frock spotted with deeper green
and the guest of honour chose a gown of floral gilk in shades of pink, lemon and blue, with gafiered neckline and long full sleeves. A blu© kitchen afternoon wa^ given by Mrs B. Jarvis, Mra J. T. Jarvia and Miss Alic© Gillman at the home of Mrs B. Jarvis. A very jolly afternoon was spent by all and novel competitions were much enjoyed. After a delicious tea the parcels were openedi by the guest of honour who later thanked everyone for their charming gifts. Mrs J. T. Jarvis wore a green and cherry floral frock and Mrs B. Jarvis had touches of navy on her pale blue linen frock. Miss Alice Gillman woro n nigger brown costum© with a beige blousev Miss Joan Smith wore a smart little blue tailored American frock
