WELLINGTON, Last Night. Flying-Ofilqer Buekeridge took Qkavge of th© seareh. He arranged for a eeareh covering the coast and sea from Cape. Terawhiti to Mana Island, in whieh area the mispjng machine was last seen at I0-3Q Five ground parties frpm stations ia the vicinity patrolied the : beaclies and three launehes wero engaged in cpastal reconnaissance from Makara, All the available aeroplanes wero ueed for aerial searching. The Royal New Zealand Air Force Vickers Vildeheest bombqr returning to Auckland from th© pageant at Hokitika, left "Wellington in the mprning atfd flew along th© coast about a quarter of au hour after th© disappearanee of th© Moth. Flying-Cffieer Cohen, the, pilot, latar reported he had seen nothing of the missing maehlne. Squadi-on-Leader ytedman flew in a Moth with Mi Plumtree as observer to the loeality where Mr Plnmtre© saw the lost of the machine carrying Messrs Smith and HamiH, At approximately the same plaee where the two plane, s parted company earljey th© searchers were foreed almost on to the water through the fog being "right down," and for a time they had to fly blind. merston North. encountered a thiek, low fog extending woll out to sea and running up ihe eoast from Cape Terawhiti to Mana Island, The air liner cruised in the loeality for some timo but saw no sign of the plane, Flying-Qffieer Jan Keith, instructor to the Western Federated Aero Club, flew from Wanganui, making a detailed seareh aleng the eoast, Other pl&nes . from Rongotai also searehed extenfitveJy, not returning till after dark. Makara eettlers had eombined in a seareh ©overing the beaeh in sections. About 6 p,m. Messrs Haig and McKenme found tbre© piec.es of wreckage consisting of wood shaped and painted islver whieh waa floating close to shore and a fourth and larger piece was seen about n quarter of a milo from shore, and about half a mile further along. the coast Mr A. Sutheriand reported a find whieh is considered to be one of the interplane struts-,
