Elizabeth street, Melbourne, for 63 years, is closing down business to-morrow, The business haa been in the, hands oi the receivers for some time, The premises were offered at auction last week and the highest hid was £335,000 below the reserve and was passed in. Tenders that had been called for the purchase oi the stock and hook debts wer© opened to-day, when it was announced that Messrs Anthony Hordern and Co., Sydney, had purchased the stock and that Messrs Ball and Weleh, Melbourne, had honght the hook debts. ihe advei'tised valu© oi the stock was 15131,022 and oi the book debts £50,746.
