WAIPUKURAU, Last Night. On the Mt. Vernon Range during the week-end the members of the Waipukurau Defence Rifle Club fired off the final round of the club championships and Messrs Taylor's trophy. Weather conditions were perfect. At 8(X) and 900 yards the light upset some of the riflemen, which greatly reduced the seore cards. Rifleman N. Taylor scored two possible, at 600 and 800 yards while Rifleman Tirney scored one at 500 yards and Rifleman Haldane one at 300 yards. Keen interest was taken in the final shoot for th© championship as several members were in good positions to win. When the 900 yards range had been fired Rifleman N. Taylor proved to be too good for the remainder, winning the club championship with a grand total of 491, followed byi Rifleman McVicar with 483. Rifleman N. Taylor also won the Main Cup and Belt. On the day's shoot Rifleman Haldane won the President's Gold Medal while the Messrs Taylors Trophy was won by Rifleman McVicar.
