Nuttall aske.d that Samuel Smith be remanded until to-morrow week when he appeared before Mr. J. Miller, S.M.. in the Napier Magistrate's Court this morning on a charge Of assaulting Robert SpieTs so as to cause him actual bodily harm. The detective-teergeant also said that a further reaand WOUld probably be required. "The assaulted man is at present Ia hospital With extensive iujurieS tb his head," he sfiid. "Two Other ; people were injured as a result Of being assaulted by accused, and fnrther fchargai may be pending in this connection.'*
