1 — — m o New Zealand's Rugby Needs "I hope it will come to pass this season that we shall produce some firstelass inside backs to fill the need not oniy in our provincial side but for New Zealand," said Mr G. A. Maddison, patron of the Hastings Rugby Football Sub-Union, and former president of the New Zealand Rugby Union, at the annual meeting of delegates to the subunioix last night when commenting o'n the prospects for the coming season. "There seems little doubt that wa have the forwar.ds ixx New Zealand, but what we require is players of calibre and ability in the backs, particularly in the inside positions," he added, when mentioning the forthcoming visit of the Springboks and the fact that Hawke's Bay was due for a matcb against the visitors during the coming season.
