Government Seeks Area From Harbour Board

In connection with the development of the Marewa bloek, the Napier Borough Councii yesterday advised the Napier Harbour Board of its intention to abandon its request for a deputatioii to ba received, The councii in its letter stated that as it was practically eertain that the Government would take over a considerable portion of the block under its housing scheme it was not degired to pprsue the inatter further. At a later stage in the meeting the board 's reserves conynittee reported having considered a communication from the Ministry of Housing on the seeuring of an area of approximately 60 acres of thp Marewa block lying betweOn Kennedy Toad extepsion and Latham ptreet extension for the purposes of a Government housing scheme. The committee further repprted that Messrs. Ro-chfort and Cox had been instrueted to value the proposed arpa end repqrt to the board.
