FIELD PONY SPORTS
Successfui Atua Meeting Favoured with ideal weather, there was an excellent attendance of cocn' petitors and spectators at the field pony sports at Atua Station on Saturday. Features of the meeting were the large number of competitors who were taking part in such sports for the first time, some on ponies kindly lent by Atua and Springbush stations, and two games of polo, one between teams of tyros of whom several showed considerable aptitude for the game. In the other game Springbush scored one goal against Atua. In connection with the sports a wellattended and most enjoyable dance was held in the Patangata Hall in the evening. As a result of the encouraging support given the meeting and dance they are likely to be annual affairs. Eesults in the field events are as fbllow:— Turning.— L. Breuer 1, P. Jones and E. Kenderdine 2. Flag Eace. — W. Crampton 1, E. Kendefdine 2. Potato race.— E. Whits 1, H. Ford 2. Night alarm. — E. Atkinson 1, H. Ford 2. Medley race. — E. Atkinson 1, E. Kenderdine 2. Polo-ball event.— Open: H. Beale 1, L Eoss 2. Novice: E. White 1, J. Duucan 2.
