DANNEVIRKE, Last Nigbt. On May 26 and 27 farmers from many parts of the North island will be in conferenee at Dannevirke, which has been selected as the locale for the annual assembly of delegate3 from the Wairarapa, Wellington, Manawatu, Wanganui, Northern Hawke's Bay anci Soutnern Hawke's Bay Provincial districts of to© New Zealand Earmcrs' Ur.ion. Repia entatives from Wa roa, aiul Poverty Bay are also to be iiivited. Members of the BH.B. Distriet Exe cutive at theix monthly meefcing in Dannevirke considered that Ihe conferenee week would be the ideal time for arranging a specially-attractive farmers' week. Ihe suggestion arose after a circular frvin the Dominion Executive, referritig' to a membership campaiga, had been tead. This proposed that tha campaign should be divided into two weeks — pr.>paganda week, beginuing 0n Apul 5 arti membership week, conmieacaig on April 12. Various suggysstions were niade, such as obtaining the co-opcra-tion of the shopkeepers in making special wmdow displays, arranging railies, spteches at dances, smoke concerts' 't-.j and getting the co-operation ct chambers of eoinrneree. Ihe ehaiunan, Mr J. Liviugs»ton, considered that as the provincial conferenee was to be held at Dannevirke in May, it would be better for the campaign to be launched then. After some discussion Mr J. W. Murray, Pongaroa, moved: "That this meeting considerg the suggestions put forward by the Dominion Executive are excellent. The . Provincial Distriet will carry them out as far as possible, but as the inter-provincial conferenee is to be held in Dannevirke in May the executtve prefers to hold its campaign in the form of a farmers' week then." Mr C. R. Redward seconding^ the motion was carried.
