How the owner of an overcoat, after discovering it missing, saw another person wearing it on the street, was related in the Magistrate's Court when William Baker was charged with the theft of a coat valued at £5 10/-. The police said that the coat was taken from a boardingbouse and later the same day the owner Was sitting in a car with a friend when the accused offered to sell them the coat for 30/-. The accused had a long list of previous convictiens dating back to 1903 and twice had been declared an babitual criminal. Sentenc© of tbree months' imprison.nwnt was imposed.
