HOUSING SCHEME

Mr. Cullen Again to Press Hastings Scheme

The extension of the Government housing scheme to include Hastings is a matter upon which Mr E. L. Cullen, M.P., will again make representations during a visit he will be making to Wellington this week. For some time past Mr Cullen has been making reprosontations on the matter, and he ic hopefui of a satisfactory conclu-sion being reached. " :jne of the points I want to stross parti cularly, in the event of the Government deciding upon some building or housing scheme in Hastings, is the merit of the claims of local builders to carry out the work," he said to a Herald-Tribune representative this morning. "I am very keen that any work done in this direction should be done by local builders, and I am making strong representations in this regard. ' ' Mr Cullen anticipates leaving Hastings on Wednesday and expects to be absent about 10 days.
