Man & Woman Badly Injured in Waikato C0LLISI0N WITH CAR

AUCKLAND, Last Night. A young man and a young woman from Palmerston North who were on a tour of the North Island were seriously injured about one and a half miles south ot Huntly to-day. The man, Henry George Knowles, a permanent fireman at the Central Station, was riding a motor-cycle and Miss Graca Painter, an employee of the Commercial Hotel, was travelling on the pillion seat. Each suffered a fractured leg. They became involved in a collision with a motor-car driven by Kov Whittle on a bend on the main south road. The i'orce of the impact was taken by a foot rest, but the machine fell on its side, pinning both rider and passenger beueath. Knowles and Miss Painter were attended by Dr. J. Collins, of Huntly, and removed by a St. John Ambulance to the Waikato Hospital. At a late hour to-night their condition was regarded as serious.
