Acute Shortage in Country SOUTHLAND DEBATE

INVERCARGILL, Last Night. That the shortage of domestic lafcnour •was a problem confronting the faifning jcommunity more than the farm labour ishortage was discussed at a meeting of the Southland provincial executive of Ithe Farmers' Union to-day. The president (Mr G, A. Hamilton) ■declared that the odds of Becuring domestic labour for a farm at the present time were about a "fifty to one" chance, and that it was a waste of time advertising for it. The status of domestic labour on a farm compared with that of female labour in the cities was discussed, and it was decided to enlist the support of ithe Women 's Division to see if something could be done to relieve the position,
