HASTINGS WEST SCHOOL
The monthly meeting of the rton}mit» tee of the Hastings W^st Scwil wa# held on Thursday. Preson* : Messra Mac nersey (ohair), Driller (headmaster), Westerman, Matthews, Trumper, Harvey and Golello. LeaVe of absence was granted to Messrs Bfitten, MiUer and Ti eacher, The headmaster reported that tle «.J| nurjber on reopening was 336, an increase of 18 as compared with the opening date last year. Miss Tait joined the staff as prooationary assistant, and later Miss\siaden was appointed to a relieving position. Last year one class was without a separate teacher and had to be divided and placed with other classes The additions to the staff as a result of the increase in roll now provide a separate- teacher for each class. Messrs Trumper and Harvey were appointed visitiog 'comhiittee. The treasurer, Mr Westerman, placed the annual accounts before the meeting, and appreciation was expressed of tbe clesr manner in which he had brought all details before the committee.
