.By Telegraph-
WELLINGTON, Last Night. Approval of the actioh of the Dairy ;Board in offering a eontribution ofj £10,000 for the free supply of milk toj school children was expressed by tha Dominion Dairy Con|erence to-day^ Delegates were of the opinion thatj there should be no further eontribution by the, board, and that, in view of thei | i'acfc that there was to be a national .scheme, the expense should be borne by Ihe Consolidated Fund. The chairman of th.6 Dairy Board! ,(Mr. A. J. Muwlach) said that, until quite recently, Ihe board had not been called upon for money for the scheme. In its original form it was represented that the scheme would cost £107,000, and the board was prepared to contribute approximately 10 per cent. The scheme now proposed was to cost over £200,000, and the board had been asked to contribute 10 per cent. of that. All the board was prepared to do was to meet the commitment of the previous board and contribute £10,000. The following remit was carried: "That this meeting approves of the Dairy Board 's action in offering il 0,000 for the free supply of milk to 3chool children, but the amount be limited to one year only."
