FAST-FIRING GUNS
Armaments on New British Cruisers (Eeceived 19, 11.5 a.m.) LONDON, March 18. The new cruisers Southampton and Newcastle, which have just been commossioned fOr serviee with the Home Fleet, are capable of a greater volume of ilre than any British eruiser. Twolvo six-inch guns are mounted in four triplo turretsj each turret will discharge 30 rounds a minute, all firing 120 rounds a minute. The guns have a high angle of elevation to enable their use agains$ L aircraf t in certain caieumBtances.
