(Eeceived 19, 12.5 p.m.) HONOLULU, March 18 Mrs. AfflpUa Earharfc Putnam arrived at dawn from Oakland In 15 hours 52 minutes on the first hop of a "world flight. Her time sets a new Tecord for the east to west erossing. Her departnre is not certain owlng to the weather. Mrs. Putnam said she was not tired hnt immediately left the air fiefld forh'ed. She has not decided whethfer to depart to-day or to-morrow for Howland Island. Except to say that the trip was uneventful Mrs. Putnam withheld comment because of story contracts. She is accompanied by three men. Oue is leaving her here, oue at Howland and one at Darwin, whence she will continue alone. A coastguard at Honolulu infrjrceptee a massage at 3 a.m., when the plane was 805 miles from Honolulu, saying it had already passed both the coinmerciaJ planes. She left Oakland for Honolulu at 4.38 p.m., Pacific time. Half an hour after her take-off Mrs. Putnam sent a radio message: "All's well. ' ' Although the 7000 feet runway was drenched by the recent rain, Mrs. Putnam accelerated and the ship left the ground after a run of 1897 feet in 25 seeonds. She said good-hye to her husband in the privacy of the hangar and waved and smiled to the crowd which surrounded the plane. Pan-American Airways arranged to share radio facilities with Mrs. Putnam, but she was foreed to arrange fov a special transmitting schedule. Four hours after her take-off she had oovered 700 miles, according to a radio message, and had passed both the clipper ships.
