FLAX-GROWING PLAN
Minister May Not be Able to Visit Area WILL SEND OFFICER i Advic© has been received by Mr E. L. Cullen, M.P., that it is possible that the Hon-. F. Langstone, Minister of Lands, may not be able to make an inspection of the Poukawa Lake district as anticipated during the qoming weekend, The Minister, who is now touring the Elast Coast districts will be inspecting the Mohaka Maori Development works on Sunday next, and it was hoped that upon his arrival in Hastings time would allow for visiting the Poukawa Lake area, where it is hoped that the flax-growing industry will be developed. When passing tHrough Hastings on hi$ way north early last week, the Minister agreed to the representations in this regard, but has now advised that it might not be possible for him. to make the inspection on Sunday. Indications pojnt to his arrival in Hastings being about 7 o'clock on Sunday evening, and this would be too late for an inspection of the area concerned. Mr Cullen has been assured, however, that in the event of the Minister being unable to make the desired inspection owing to his having to reaeh Welling at the earliest date possible, then arrangements will be made for a departmental officer to visit the' lake district and furnish a report to the Minister. Mr Cullen proposes to leave Hastings to-morrow for Mohaka and will accompany the Minister on his tour of inspection, returning with him to Hastings on Sunday.
