MOA BONES UNEARTHED
Discovery in Akitio County A gang of Akitio County eoxployees, under the foreman (Mr. S. McLean), were carrying out blasting operations ■ ! a.t Akaroa Peak on Tuesday when they . found some moa bones under a Tock. The .bones, which are in a good state of preservation, are from the frame and the shin. Mr. A. Maylin Theed (County engin1 eer) said there was no doubt about them being moa bones. The large piece was from the back-bone in the region of the tail and had several small por1 tions still joined on. Tt is understood that a further seareh will be made in the vicinity in an endeavour to unearth other portions of ' f skeleton.
