CHILDREN'S HOME

Annual Appeal to Residents Tbis appeal of the trustees to the residents of Hawke's Bay is one which will commend itself to all. Tbe hcme being nndenominational, is open to all children, resident in Hawke's Bay wbo come witbia tlie definition entifcling tbem to admission. Tbis valuable social work bas been earried on for foirty-four years to tbe great benefit of the children, wbo bave been admitted and undoubtedly to the benefit of tbe community in general. Witbout such a bome tbe material of good worthy citizens would be wasted as it is not to be expeeted tbat orplianed, neglected or destitute children can grow into responsible citizens unless tbey are properly cared for in their early years. During tbe past five years tbe income received bas not been entirely sufficient to meet expenditure and tbe trustees are i'aced witb an adverse balance in the income and expenditure account of £1728 19/9. During the past yoar we have seen an improvement in prices ior primary products and the improvement is felt tliroughout all avenues of trade and commerce. Accordingly it is confidently anticipated tfoere will be a willing and substantial response to the appeal tbis year. Tbe objective is to raise £1500 and with thig objective attained tbe position of tbe finanees will be far more satisfaetory. House-to-house collections are organised for Friday and Saturday March 19 and 20 and circular lettcrs have also been posted to residents of the province.
