LODGE CONFERENCE
Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows H.B. DISTRICT MATTERS The annuual eonference of the Hawke's Bay Dietrict Manchester Unity Independent Order of Oddfellows was continued at Waipukurau throughout yeatorday afternoon, Bro. G. Eeg. Cook, District Gran.d Master, Waipukurau, presiding over the officere and 40 deputies. The election of officers resulted:— District Grand Master, Bro. P. -J. Priest, D.D.G.M. (Hastings); Deputy District Grand Master, Bro. C, H. White P.G. (Meeanee) ; members oi district managing committee, Bros. F. D. Mackie, P.D.G.M. (Woodville); W- Q, McEay, P.D.G.M. (Abbotsford, Waipawa), E. C. Hurdsfield., P.D.G.M. (Waipukurau), P. C. Smith, P.G. (Danne'virke), A. H. Eobinson, P.G. (Napier), auditore, Bros. L. A. P, Erqgh, P.D.G.M. (S,enior) and Brq. G. C. Laws, P.G, (both of Napier) j Lodge, hook examiners, Bros. H. Buli and -J, P. Williamson P.D.G.M.'s (both of Napier); delegates to mqvable conr ference for N^ Bros. F. D. Mackie, J.PJ).G,M. (Wqodville), P. J, Priest, District G.M. (Hastings) and A. H. Eobinson P.G. (Napier). It wa? decided that the next eonference be held at Woodville. The district management levies for next year were fixed on the same basis as previouBly, 1/6 per malp member and 1/3 per female mpmber for each halfyear. The installation of officers was conducted by Director M. G. McKay, P.D.G.M. (Loyal Abbotsford, Waipawa) assisted by Bros. H. S. M. Quigiey, Past Grand Master NjZ. (Dannevirke), H. G. Newling (Forest Home, Ormond.ville),, F. D. Mackje, P.B.G.M. (Woodvjlle), and _T. B, McDonald P.G. (Meeanee). Special resolutions were earried thanking Loyal Tavistock Lodge (Waipukurau) and ladi&s in particular. headed by Sister Mrs. G. Eeg -Cook P.G., Sister E. Pellow, P.G. (Loyal Abbotsford) as minufe secretary, Sister C. McCarthy (Loyal Tavistock) as guardian, the Press and Bro. X G. Holms P.D.G.M., Waipukurau, as hohoxary reporter. Officers specially com* plimented were the district secretary, Bro. J. P. Williamson^ P.D.G.M. (Napier), and the retiring Grand Master, Bro. G. Eeg. Cook. On the motion of Bro. A. C. Holms, P.D.G.M., seconded by Director Bro. McKay, the following resolution was earried: — "That fhe attention of the Grand Master and -Board of Directors be directed to the desirability, for informative purposee, of publishing in the reports of movable eonference pro- ■ ceedings a brief summary of the balances as applied to the funds of each district as well aa the Lodges (as a whole) therein." At the conclusion oi the eonference, which had included a considerable number of notices of motion of general concern to the .district end order, the officers and deputies were enter'tained at dinner in the Tavistock Hotel, when a lengthy toast list was gone through.
