Captain Silent on Tour of Australia FIRST MATCH 0N FRIDAY

WELLINGTON, This Day. G. O. B, Allen, captain of the M.C.O. ;eam which arrived from Australia tolay by the Wanganella to play a series >f matches in the Dominion, is conrinced that he will never again visit kustralia as a member of an English ;eam in search of the Ashes. Asked what was the signiflcance of ihe remark h© was reported to have nade that the final'Test would be his ast on the Melbourne Cricket Ground, ie replied that if was quite obvious ;hat he would never come to Australia tgain. "It is quite apparent that I could lot stand another tour and probably /m not good enough," he said. A Government reception was tender* ed the team at Parliament House today. The Hon. P. Fraser, Minister oi Education, welcomed the visitors on behalf of the Prime Minister, who_ was unable to be present. He paid tribute to their sportsmanship in defeat in Australia. The New Zealand Cricket CounciPs weleome was extended by the president. Allen, replying, said that the Australian tour had been a pleasant one but the team was disappointed about the Tests. After the third Test nothing seemed to go right for theoi. He wished the New Zealand team success during the English tour, expressing the opinion 'that they would do well.- • '• A
