N.Z. Mounted Field Ambulance
A. M.
DAVIDSON, B.A.
To the Editor. Sir, — I should be grateful if you ■would insert the following appeal for information in the columns of your p&per. Although the part played by the various combatant units in the Great War has been recorded adequately in official histories, no attempt has so far been made to compile a permanent record of the achievements of tho N.Z. Mounted Field Ambulance on Gallipoli Peninsula, on Sinai and in Palestine. The ambulance was attached to the N.Z. Mounted Eifle Brigade which was part of the Anzac Mounted Division. Aotuated solely by a desire to preserve for history an accurate record of the valuable assistance rendered by this section, I should be gratOful if ex-members — officers and men or sob diers of other units who were assisted by the men of the ambulance — would coffimunicate with Mr. A. M. Davidson (3/1289), headmaster, Macandrew Road Sehool, Dunedin, S.W1. As there were several A.S.C. men in the unit, any communication from these men would also be welcorae. Diaries and films of interest forwarded to me will be treated with strict confidence, and will be preserved in good order and condition as roceived, and returned to their ownefs after they have been petused for information. Members who were ,decorated for eonspicuous bravery or service on the field are requested to forward an account of the deed or deeds for which the decoration was bestowed. My desire being to commence this work as soon as possible, I shall appreciate early replied in response to my appeal. Absolutely no attempt Will be made to eommercializa the work. — Yours. etc..
