Cold at Taupo. Sends Fish to Deep Water
(By Telegraph
MASl JfKTUJN , March 15An empbatic dissent from recent allegations of the dearth of trout in Lake Taupo is expressed by Sir "VVilliam Perry, who has just returned from hjs annual holiday to tbe lake. In spit'e of the weather being a littl© uupleasant at times, Sir William told an interviewer, he experjenced a most pleasant holiday and fishing trip. "My party of three," he said, "secured 118 fieh in eight days, all on wet fly. Quite a number of these fish were from seven to nine pounds, and the bulk of the others were from five to six pounds. All were in excellent condition. "Owing to the cold season, there are very few beetles and flies in evidence," he said, "and therefore the fish are feeding ip. deeper water, and not so many are close to the shore. In evidence ot this, many good fish have their under-jaw quite sor© from grubbing on the bottom. "The fish iu the Waikato between Huka Falls and the Lako," said Sir William, "are also in good condition."
