Mr George F. Eox, manager for Messrs Senia Ghostiakoff and Vincent Byan, arrived in Hastings to-day to make final arrangements for their forthcoming farewell concert. Mr T. Mason Chambers, of Havelock North, who is an inmate of & private hospital in Hastings, is making satisfactoxy progress after having undergone an operation. Dr. A. Osborne Knight, of Seaview Terrace, Mount Albert, celebrated his SOth birthday on Saturday. Before he retired from practice, Dr. Knight was for many years an honorary visiting surgeon to the Auckland Hospital and chief surgeon to the St. John Ambulance Assoeiation in the Auckland district. He had a long period of service in the New Zealand Medical Corps, attaining the rank of surgeon-major. Dr. R. A, Bobinson, lecturer in physical chemistry at Auckland University College, who is at present on leave in England, has been awarded the degree of DSc. by the University of : Birminghacn in recognition of his investigation of the thermo-dynamic properties of aqueous solutions of slectrolyte This degree has been conferred after ' the publication of his work in tho Transaetions of the Faraday Society and other journals. ^ 1 iii i—— - ]
