Fine Also Imposed Upon Dr, Townsend WASHING'iON, March 12. Dr. Townsend received the minimum sentence of thirty days' gaol and a 109dollar fine. He announcod he would appeal. On May 28, 1936, the House of Reprqgentatives decided to cite Dr. F» E. Townsend and his two aides in the Townsend pension scheme for contempt of the House. It instructed the prosecuting of&cials in the distriet of Columbia to initiate a criminal action against them. Dr. F, E. Townsend was convicted on February 24 of contempt of the House by a Federal jury. Sentence was deferred. The statute imposes a maximum jpenalty of a fine of 1000 dollars and year 's imprisonment.
