PETANE BEATS ESKDALE

Brilliant batting by K. McArtney, who made 99 (fiVe sixes) and the bowling of Tansey, who took five for 35, were th© outstanding features in the annual match between the Petane Tennis club and the Eskdale Cricket Club, The game, which was played on Mr Clark' s property at Eskdale on Saturday afternoon, resulted in a firstinnings win for Petane by 88 runs. Batting first, Petane declared whetu six wickets had fallen for 172, and I Eskdale replied with 84. Other double « figure scorers for Petane were Shirley (32), Tansey (24) and Triggs (13). Petane' s top scorer was Aymes, with 49, while W. Nichol (13) was the only other batsman to reach double figures. Afternoon tea was provided by the Iadies' committee of the Eskdale Cricket Club.
