JAPANESE ATHLETES
Appearance On McLean Park The fame of McDean Park as a flrst-class sports ground has travelled far, and Hawke's Bay athletes were astonished when conversing with the Japanese athletes in Auckland last Saturday to learn of the faith of these two charming sons of Nippon in McLean Park as a ground on which to break records at their appearance there to-morrow night. There is a faseination in being present when recordis go by the board, and in addition to the attempts by the Japanese, Ian Driscoll will again attempt to fraeture the long-standing two-mile walking record. On account of the failiug light, Driscoll will commence his attempt at 6.30 p.m. and at the same time K. Togarai will endeavour to improve on J. P. Metcalfe's figures in the hop, step and jump. The handicap ovents will commence at 7.15 p.m. and K. Murakoso will attempt to lower Randolph Rose's record over two miles at 8.15 p.m.
