Champion of Champions Competition W. GRAHAM THE WINNER The champion of champions singles competition of the Hawke/s Bay Bowling Centre concluded on the Port Ahuriri Bowling Club's green on Saturday, W. J. Graham (Hastings) wjth eight wins and one loss, wiuning the eoveted honour. The greens were in excellent condition when play commenced on' Saturday, but during the seventh found heavy rain fell, causing an adjourninent for two hours. Upon resumption of play the greens had slowed-up cdnsiderably, hampering the chances of several of the players. At the conclusion of play the president of the centre, Mr F. D. Logan, apologised for the obsence of Mr J. P. Smith, who had a cold, the change of weather compelling. his absence, but who wished his congratulationa to be conveyed to the winner. Mr Logan congratulated the winner and referred 'to the fact that this was the second oceasion that Mr Graham had won the trophy. The position of runner-up was decided by lot, five competitors tying with six wins and three lossets, the draw favouring McCarthy (Port Ahuriri), The latter thanked the ladies for dispensing light refreshments; the markers, for their good work, and the secretary, Mr P. J. Bear, whose attention to dotail had ensured the smooth running of all the centre 's tournaments. Cheers were' given for the winners and the donors of the trophy, and thus concluded the centre 's championsbip fixt.ures for the season.
