Tar-Sealing Borough Roads

The contractors for the work of tar-sealing about six miles of the borough streets have started work under the contract commencing in Kabul street, and good progress is being made. Tuai Colf. It was decided at the annual meeting of the Tuai Golf Club to reduce the number of holes in the course to nine for the purpose of reducing the greens maintenance costs. The membership fees have also been reduoed, and new menjbers are encouraged by tbe abolition of entrance fees. The election of officers resulted: — President, Mr * J. Tapperj vice-president, Mr J. S. Burgiss; club captain, Mr A. J. Breen; vice-captain, Mr Erickson ; secretary and treasurer, Mr J. O'Donnel; and a strong committee- The women' s club captain is Mrs Kelly, and the vice-cap-tainfc Mrs Alford; the secretary, Mrs Jones and a strong committee eomprising Mesdames Hawthorne, Blair, Tap-, per and McDonald. Tuai Labour Party, The following officers were elected at the annual meeting of the Waikaremoana branch of the N.Z. Labour Party: President, Mr R. F. Yewen; vice-president, Mr W. A. Blair, and secretary and treasurer, Mr W- Goodman (all re-elected) ^ committee, Messrs J. Gibbons, T. Amai, T- Foley, A. Gillespie, Mrs Dawson. Wairoa Golf Club. ] The opening day at the Wairoa golf links has been fixed for April 3 and a good season is confidently anticipated. The opening item will be a mixed Canadian foursome.
