This annual appeal will take the forin of a shop and will be held next Saturday, the stalls including produce, cakes, sweets. flowers, jumble and novelties. Oue has only to consider that in the tbree homes there are 108 children to be fed and clothed and however carefully the pianaging is carried out a considerable amount of money is neceseary for the upkeep. Everyone will realise that this is an exceptionally worthy cause and donations of any deseription will be gratefully receivedTake this next week to spring clean your book-shelves and cupboards and sort out those old clothos and books which have been set asido and are never used. You will give yourself more space when they are sent along to the shop and at the same time you have be making your coutribution to the appeal. t . . WOMEN'S INST1TUTE Wallingford Meeting The annual meeting of the Wallingford Women' s Institute was held at Wallingford on Thursday afternoon, ' Mrs J. D. Ormond presidingj over a fair attendance of members, eeveral visitors being also present. Apologies were tendered from Mesdames P. Canning. M. Mouah, A- Judd, W. Paterson, A. S. Wiider, E. McNutt, and the Misses J. and A. Ormond, Aand B. Wiider. Tho business and oorrespondsnc® was dealt with and Mesdames J . Canning and Walker were appointed delegates to attend the Southern Hawke's Bay" annual Federation CouncR meeting which is to be held at Waipukurau. The secretary, Mrs J. L, Jamieson, presented the annual report and' balance sheet, botb proving most satisfactory. Mrs J- D. Ormond also addressed the meeting and comniented favourahly on the year's work. The following committee was elected for the ensuing year ; President, Mrs J. D. Ormond (re-elected) ; secretary, Mrs G. L. Jamieson (re-elected) j committee. Mesdames P- Cannmg, Bevaven, T. Geenty, F. Jackson. E. McNutt, R. Stoddart, R. P. Wiider and L. Wilson, The results of the competitions for the day were; "Best Collection of Vegetables,5' Mrs S. Ward 1, Mrs GL. Jamieson 2; "Embroidered Apron,55 Mrs S. Ward 1, Mrs T. Hobson 2, Mrs Wooster 3. The points prize for the year was won by Mrs Jackson, who ako gained Mrs , Ormond' s special ' prize for the member entering' into the ' inost competitions. Mrs E. McNutt was successful in winning Mrs J. Canning1 s prize for the best laoour saving device in the home. The market stall held in place of the potato Competition did a ' steady business during the afternoon, a satisfactory sum being made fo'r the federation funds. ' Mrs Schipein was elected a new member. The hostesses for the afternoon were Mesdames J. Canning, H. Parsoiis, Absolum, S. Davey, Murphy. and M. Monah.
