WELLINGTON, Last Night. The autumn meeting of the Wellington Racing Club opened at Trentham to-day in showery weather, which cleared after the first race, but the day was cold though sunny. The track was heavy early. It impcroved later but was always soft and slow. The attendance was small and the totalisator handled £28,198 10/-. There was no corresponding day last year, when the meeting extended over three days, but on St. Patrick's Day twelve months ago the total was £29,439 10/-. Friesland then finished solidly on the outer and won going away, Haut Monde and Paper Slipper weakening and giving way to Arctic King.
