■ ■ mm m * — r Discovered in Breakers Near Gisborne • NOT IN ANY DANGER The trawler Marlna, tmmd i'tom Napier to Taiiratiga, ig aground on the Waikanae heaeh, Gisborne, and efforts to refloat her have m far proved unsimcessfnl The crew, who have rexnalnert on board, are in no dangef. Formerly a v/ell» known unit of the Napier trawling fleet, owned by Napier Fisheriee, Ltd., the Marina was recently sc/id to Mr. w. 3 * 0 osteilo, of Rotorua, and it was whilo tho vessel was being sailed to Tauranga for her new owner to take over that the grounding occurred. The Marina left Napier yesterday, and, ahortly after 9 o'elock last night, rcsidents at Waikanae beaeli were surXU'ised to hear the vessel 's whistle sounding just off-shore. Mr N, J. Flavell decided to investigate, and gping down to the beaeh, he 'saw the lights of the Marina, which was stranded in the breakers near Eoberts road. Mr Flavell waded into the sea, and spoko with the members of the crew. He then came ashore, and communicated with Mr R. J. Patty, of the Gisborne Harbour Board staff, who immediately proceeded to the scene. By 10 o'cloek, dead low tide, the Marina was high and dry, and preparations were made for refloating her at 4 o 'clock this morning, when the tide would be at the full. The attempt failed, however, and no further progress could be made. Although a fairly heavy sea is running, it is not considered that the vessel is in any danger.
