FARM & STATION HANDS

Setting up of Dommion Awar d H.B. UNION MEETS' A meeting of the Hawke's Bay Farm and Station Workers' union - was held. in th© •Friendly Societies' hall, Hastings, last night; Mr Bob Tutaki presiding over an attendance of.over 100. The attendance > was ' f uliy representative of-the province, some of .those present having made journeys of from 60 to 70 miles to attend the meeting. The principal speaker was Mr C. Grayndler, a representative of the New Zealand Workers' Unio'n, who reported on the negociations now in train for the "setting up o£ a .Dominion award for farm and. station hands. It was reported that there had been a conferenee between the union, the Sheepowners .Federation and -ihe New Zealand" Farmers3 Union * to * try and reach an agreement covering the whole of . the Dominion; but -this had been adjourned to enable the respective parties to consider various matters over which there was obvious disagreement. From the information supplied to the Herald-Tribune this morning it would appear that last nigbt's meeting endorsed the claims put forward originally by the union and made several amendments.
