Australian Trade Minister's Sudden Decision POLICY DISAPPROVED

(Eeceived 11, 8.45 a.m.) CANBEEEA, March 10. Sir Henry Gullett, Minister in charge of Trade Treaties, haa resigned from the Federal Cabinet. His resignation came with dr&matic suddenness following sharp differences with Cabinet colleagues on an undi*closed point in the trade policy coneerning Canada. Sir Henry left the room, wrote out his resignation and did not return. He failed to-attend the farewell dinuer to-nighfc to the Frime Minister and the Minister of Defence on the eve of iheir embarkation for England and the C oronation. Ministers refused to comment on tha vesignatiou, saying they were sworn to seerecy, It is learned authoritatively, how ever, that trouble arose over Sir Henry making a recommendation to Cabinet that further efforts to negotiate witl. Canada for a revised trado treaty ba abandoned and that Cabinet refused to accept the recommendation. The Prime Minister, the Et. Hon. J. A. Lyone announced that no additional appointment to Cabinet would be made but that trade treaty negotfations would be earried on by a sub-committee of which the Attorney-General, the Hon. G. E. Menzies, will be chairman, and the Minister df Commerce, Dr. Earle Page, and the Minister of Customs, the Hon. T. W. White, members.
