HOSPITAL CONTROVERSY
No-Confidence Motion LEGAL 0PM0N READY Further consideration of the niembership of Dr. J. AHan Berry on the honorary surg(eons' staff of the Napier Hospital is likely to be given at the monthly meeting of the Hawke's Bay Hospital Board next Monday aiternoon when Mr. C. O- Morse, one of the •Napier members of the board, is to move a vote of no-confidenee in the chairman. Mr. C. Lassen. Mr. Morse announced kis intentiou of this on the day following the board' s special meeting] last Friday week. At tbat meeting a motion by Mr. Lassen that the board dispense with the serTiees of Dr. Berry on the honorary staff was considered, seven out of nino members voting in farour of tlve motion. It did not take effect, however, because i^lr. Lassen ruJed that under tho boai'd's by-laws a 75 per cent. majority required, witli the •result tliat the motion was iosi by one vote. Dr. Berry was not allowed to participate in the voting although he was permitted to take part in the discussion Mr. Lassen announced his mtention. however, of obta'niugr a lega] opiniou on the x]uestion of the voting, and it is understood that this will be avallabto ior next Monday's ineetidg. Mr. Morse is at present in Timaru attendiug the annual conference of the i Ne-w Zealand jMunicipal Association, • but is expectcd back in Napier on Saturday night.
