(By Telosrsph-
AUCKLAND, Last Night. The statement made by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. MSavage, immediately after the auqcees of his party at the last general election tfiat the term pf the present Parliament would 1)0 cmfined to three years was repeated by him to-day, *'We held that the last Government axtended its term of office by a year jvithout an expregsion of opinion from fche people," Mr Savage said, " and sve undertoqk tp repeal the legislation providing for fourryear Parliaments. That legislation will be repealed in duo course and the next general election will be held toward the end of next year. "At the same time there is mnch to be said for a longer Parlimentary term. Three years is not a very long time for any Government to give effect to its poliey. "However that is a matter on which the people must decide and at the time of the next general election it might be advisable to hold a referendum on the possibility of extending the Jife of future Parliaments. No definite decision has yet been made on the matter, but it is ap issue on which the people should decide."
