Gordon Walker Ltd.
An average yarding in all sections of Gordon Walker, Ltd.'s, weekly market sale held on Saturday last sold to keen competition from a good attendance of buyers. Poultry sold readily to an nnsatisfied demand at late rates with particularly strong competition in evidence for all pens of cockerels and forward puUets. The shortage of feed caused an easing in values for all lighter grades of pigs, but local and export buyers, though operating on extended limits, could not fill their Tequirements of porkers and .baconers. Dairy stock met a weak market, but all sundries were keenly sought after. Prices realised were as follow: — Poultry: Table birds, 1/10 to 10/6; W.L. hens, 1/10 to 2/5 and 1/- to 2/-; W.L. pullets, 3/6 to '5/9; W.L. cockerels, 2/- to 2/9 and 1/4 to 2/2; B.O. hens, 2/5 to 3/2 and 2/- to 2/8; B.O. pullets, 4/- to 6/-; B.O. cockerels, 2/6 to 4/3 and 2/1 to 2/5; others, hens 1/5 to 2/4, pullets to 4/-, cockerels 1/10 to 2/5 and 1/4 to 2/-; bantams, to 9d; turkeys, 6/- to 10/6; ducks, 4/2 to 7/per pair; geese, 7/-. ■Pigs: Weaners, 10/- to 17/- and 6/to 11/-; slips, 15/6 to "£1; stores, 18/to £1 5/6; porkers, £1 10/6 to £1 16/6; heavy porkers, £1 18/- to £2 6/6; baconers, £2 7/6 to £2 15/-. Sundries included men's cycles, £2 4/- and £4 10/-; set harrows, £7; l.p. Stove, £5 10/-; car, £3; belting, 31/-; wire strainers, 7/- to 10/-; 'wirenetting, 15/-; lawnmowers, 15/-; horse collai', 7/6; saws, 4/6 to 7/6; separator, £3 10/-; car carrier, 4/6; hedge shears, 2/6; dray, £2 3/6; copper, 8/6; desk, 9/-} pig potatoes, 2/- to 2/6 per bag; 30 sacks, 12/6; odd tools, 1/6 to 7/6 per bundle. Produce sold readily at vendors' rates.
