Thought to be Unworkable in Victoria (Received 9, 8.45 a.m.) MELBOURNE, March 8. Though most insurance companies operating in Victoria are in favour of compulsory third party motor insurance, which was strongly recommended by the Chief Secretary, Mr Bailey on his return from New Zealand, the companies claim that the 17/- premium is impossible here. The manager of one company said the reason was that New Zealand had less than a third of the cars registered in Victoria and that the amount paid in claims was infinitely greater. The mling rate of premium paid in Victoria on third risks is 70/- a year. The number of motor vehicles registered in Victoria is 600.000 ;
