This will provide i snpply .of lotion* Useful Lotions. Add' an equal quantity of glycerine to rose water and it willjbecome a hand lotion. Tov make an astringent lotion which, incidentally, is ideal for a dry skin, add a teaspoonful of eau de Cologne to a pint of rose water. For an eye lotion dissolve a teaspoonful of boracio erystals in ten ounces of rose water. An excellent bleaehing lotion for a greasy skin can be made from rose water, honey and borax. Dissolve five graing of borax in ten ounces of rose water and, when the borax has dissolved, add a dessertspoonful of honey. Mix with ten ounces .of distilled water and use for washing the face. To make rose water gather roses on a fine day, early in the morning, while the dew is still on the flowers. Spread the'- petals on sheets of white paper and put them in the sun to dry. When quite dry, weigh them, put them into a pan with a well-fitting lid and add five ounces of boiling water to every ounce of petals. Put on the lid and leave for three hours, then pound the petals with a wooden spoon, stir the lotion and strain through muslin. Rose milk is an old-world lotion for cooling, whitening and cleansing the skin. Equal quantities of older-flower water and orange-flower water are added to the rose water, and one teaspoonful of simple tincture of benzoin is allowed to every three ounces of the mixture and well shakeri in.
