One instanee is wbere, forced to dress in cutaway coat and elegant trousers, and ape tbe financial magnate, tbe instinct of tbe tramp prevails and b© enters a palatial rest^urant clutchmg tigbtly in bis arms a parcel containing bis tattered garments of tbe road. Arliss' co-star is Gene Gerrard, wbo is also atlired in sundry rags and tattera. His sbirt is a tbing of beauty, if not exactly a joy forever. Tbe old grim battle between career and love is renewed to provide an evening of picture entertainment in "Yellow Dust," a saga of California's gold country that bas Richard Dix xomantically teamed witb Leila Hyams. Pursuing a career that may lead to New York and fame, Miss Hyams dares to sing her way througb the West's wild mining towns at a time wben tbere are but seven women to every hundred men in tbe State. Passions and jealousies are q-uickly stirred among miners wbo knew only raw gold and raw rough women. Tbe xugged footbills of tbe Sierra Nevada's furnisb a magnificent scenic backdrop for the picture.
