Lrinting at dances and parties by peraons who had to drivo their eara home waa descxibed at to-night'a meeting of the Automobile Aaaociation of Southland as a growing menaco. The chairman (Mr, J. K. Haigh) said that the positiou was getting worae all over the Dominioa, "A certain function lately held in Invercargill was almost notorious for the amount of liquor consumed by those who attended he added. A suggestioa put forward that motor organisations ehould press for it to be xnade a punishable ofi'ence for dcensees of hotels to serve motor car drivers with liquors was largely supporfced. The discussion was part of a general talk on the details of the road safety campaign to be placed before the annual meeting of the South Isiand Motor Union. Mr. Haigh said it was undeinabla that many motorists went to dances, parties and other functions and draiik liquor, some of them to such an extent that afterwards they were untit to take their cars home. Any man who took drink should not drive and a.iy dtiver should not be encouraged fco have liquor. o '
