LONDON, Maxch 6. Outlining their plans to secure peace and prosperity within a term oi five years, the British. Labour Party have issued their programme. "The goal is a Socialist Commonwealth and the party is determined to use the xesources of the country to •create real prosperity in which aH will share." Every effort will be made to secure ;a just and lasting peace. The party is Jirreconcilaby opposed to the dictatoi.ship of any individual pr group. It agrees that a fair price should be payable for. all private property transferred £o public ownership. The Bank of England will become a public institution and a National Inyestment Board will mobilise the fknan- ' cial xesources and advise the Government on a financial plan for the fiill employment of the people. There would not be a return to the gold standarS. The Government will organise home production and control imports to ensuxe the home producer a fair price for his produce and ensure a plentiful supply of food for everybody, including^suitable food for children and expectant mothers. Legislation will be introduced for a standaxd 40-hour week. Also a determined attackwill be made on insecurity due to the fear of unemployment. tVig-" orous measures will be taken to increase ' employment. All children will be kept at school until ' 15 and eventually 16 with inaintenance allowances, also jmproved pensions. • Labour will endeavour to enable all • peaceful nations to share . the world 's wealth, It will seek to strengthen tho League of. Nations and .endeavour to check the armaments xace and promote disarmament. It will substitute ail international air police f orce for the national air forces. The Government will maintain such armed forces as are necessary to defend the country and fulfil obligations to the Empire and to the League.
