GEORGETTE OVER SATIN FOR BRIDE'S GOWN

WALKER— AFFI^CK WEDDING A very popuiar wedding took place in the Knox Presbyterian Churoh, Dannevirke, on March 9, in the pre» sence of a large congregation by the Rev. J. H. Starnes, B.A., when Jessie Barbara, eldest daughter of Mr and Mrs J. Affleck, Princess street, Pannevirke, was married to Stephen. Alexander, second son of Mr and Mrs S. W alkear, Guy street, Pannevirke. , J\13ss Thorburn presided at the orgair. The bride, .who was given away* by her iather, was attired in a dainty gown of ivory French georgette over satin. It wa& designed on Greek lines, shirring at the shoulder edges of the boat-shaped neck forming a cowl, groups of shirring in the front of the bodice and top of the skirt lending iullness to the bodice, and uplifting the skirt in front to swathe slightly, over the hips and fall xjx voluminous folds about the feet. The sleeves were full shirred at the top and open from the shoulder to the eloow, closeiy fitted to the wrist with points over the hands. The back of the xrock was fastened wifh tiny buttons from the neckline to the top of the gracefuily traijling train, which was adorned with silver four-leafed clovers. She wore satin shoes. The beautiful ivory tulle veil (lent by ,a friend) was arranged in a waterfall at the back of the head and held in. place by a triple coronet of orange blossom. She carried a shower bouquet of cream arum lilies, sweet sultan, begonia, gladiolus, gypsophilia, maidenhajr fern and aspargus trailers, tied with ivory satin ribbon. The bridesmaids were the Misses itillian (chief) and Jean Affleck, sisters of the bride, and Miss Phyllis Baker, a friend of the bride. Their frocks were of blue georgette over satin of the same shade. They were made on similar lines to that pf the bride's, with th© exception of the diaphanous angel sleeves a-nd the backs of to© frocks being fastened with, tiny silver buttons. Silver shoes and ehic littl© toques of silver and blue were also worn. Their shower bouquets were of pom pom dahlias, belladonna lilies in shades of pink, maidenhair fern and trailers of asparagus, tied wito silver streamers. Mr Len Anderson, of. Dannevirke, officiated as best man, and Mr David Walker (brother of .the bridegroom), and Mr Albert Olsen aoted as groomsmen. As the bridal party left the church the bride was presented with two lucky horseshoes by Miss Margaret Walker and Mr B. Boyle, niece and cousin rejspectively, of the bridegroom, and Mr 3. Mackenai© played a selection on the bagpipes. At toe reception there was a large gathering of relatives and friends, when the customary toasts were honoured. The bride's mother wore a brown marocain ensemble, with hat and shoes to tone, and her bouquet consisted of yellow and Autumn-tinted pom-pom dahlias, cream roses and asparagus fern. The bridegroom' s mother was attired in a black crepe ensemble, with hat and shoes to match, and carried a bouquet of red and bronze pom-pom dahlias and maiden-hair fern — made by Mr F. A. Butler- Harrison, Guy street. The bridegroom' s presents to the bridesmaids were crystal powder bowls. The happy couple left by car on a tour of Taranaki, Mrs Walker wearing a brown ensemble, with shoes, toque and gloves to tone. Tbe wedding presents were numerous and costly, jncluding a crystal water jug froin the committee of the Dannevirke A. and P. Association. Mr and Mrs Walker will reside in Kumeroa.
