ESKDALE MEETING
The annual meeting of the Women's Institute was held at "Hedgeley," the residence of Mrs Beattie and Miss Clark and was much enjoyed by quite a good attendance of members. Tio motto for the month is ''The Wheel of Life is a Grindstone." It is up to us whether we be ground or polishedThe monthly competitions resulted: Lemon honey: Mrs Bryson 1, Mrs Fippard 2 and Mrs Williams 3. Best bloom : Mrs Williams. Tho points prize for the year was gained by Miss Blair. An amusing competition, guessing plants by a leaf, was won by Miss (Jna Wilson. The eommittee elected for the new year were Mrs Williams. president ; Mrs King, secretary ; Mesdames Conway, Saunders, Fippard, Bryson and Spence, and the Misses Blair, R. Florance and Kyle. Members were notified of the group picnic to be held at JTutua on Easter iVlonday. Letters of thanks were received from Miss Spencer and Mr J. Bibby. Final arrangements were made for the annual show, to be held on Saturday. Stewards were appointed as follow — Flowera, Mrs Conway and Miss Kyle; cakes, Mrs Saunders and Miss Blair; vegetables, Miss D. Kirkham ; home produce, Mrs Williams • handicraft, Mrs Spence ; schoolwork. Miss Wilson; afternoon tea, Miss Kyle and assistants ; saies table and ice cream, Mrs Conway. After business was disposed of Mrs Costello, from tho Napier Townswomen's Guild, gave a most delightful and entertaining chat on her recent trip tbrough Norway', Germany and
Japan. While afternoon tea was' being I arranged members took the opportunity of walking round the pretty flower gardens. The meeting closed with a hearty vote of thanks to the hostesses.
