Committee Holds Meeting

WAIPAWA, Last Night. The monthly meeting. of tlie Waipawa District High School Committee was held last evening, there being pre sent Messrs W. E. Yates (chairman), S. W. Strang (secretary), M. Martin, A. Egglestone, R. Hutclings, N. Yer ran, Y. Patterson. and Mrs Adeane. The chairman referred feelingly to the death of Mrs J. Bibby, who had for som© year# been a member of the committee, and who had always been vitally interested in the welfare of the school. It was decided that apprecia tion of the valuabl© services rendered by th© late Mrs Bibby be f ecorded in the minutes. Reference was also made to the fact that since the end of the year Mr Hobin and Misses Rathie and Roxall had been transferred to other schools, and it was decided to have their services recorded in the minutes and that they be written to to this effect. An account from the Waipawa Borough Council for £10 in respeet of ,water charges was before - the meeting for payment. It was decided that in view of. the information received of the charges prevailing jn other centres, payment be held over meantime, the Borough Council to be requested to give further consideration to the matter of a xeduction. A letter of appreciation to be forwarded to the caretaker. The headmaster reported that the primaiy roll was 200, and the secondary department 66. Arrangements had been made withi the stationmaster to advise when the train usually carrying scholars was likely to be late. A circular letter was received from the Department of Health on the subject of milk in schools and Mrs Adeane, Mr Martin and the headmaster were appointed as a sub-committee to investigate.
