INVERCAEGILL, This Day. Speaking at a social given in hie honour by railwaymen, .the Hon. D. G. Sullivan said that, despite the restrictionp imposed because of the infantile paralysis, the rail business had increased. The position compared with laot year would be: — Revenue £7,741,000, an increase of £736,684. Expenditure, £6,834,000, an increase of £881,000. Additional staff engaged as a result of the introduction of the 40-hour week totalled 1425 and approximately 200 were still required to complete tho stafflng position.
